Opportunity:
Furniture catalogs can be long, boring, and are usually very utilitarian. There is a need for a way to dive deeper into this multi-layered style of design that is more intriguing and stimulating than picking up a furniture look-book.
Insight:
Emerging in the 1950’s, Scandinavian furniture consists of four main ideas; functionality, durability, reliability, and simplicity. It is based on minimalistic ideas and is created to serve a purpose without fussy details. Scandinavian furniture tackles problems of everyday living and is meant to promote a “healthy and rewarding working life.” The many qualities of Scandinavian furniture including a socially responsible approach to design and warm and comforting materials and textures make it the accessible, aesthetically pleasing style that it is.
Solution:
A book that shines light on the most important aspects of Scandinavian design and complements the style through publication design. The purpose of this book is to provide visual entertainment of Scandinavian style furniture design, its origins, and its current popularity while highlighting its most valuable style features in an engaging and exciting way.
